To the future owners of 2308 Forest Lane,
We originally built a house across town in a development called Windmere. We needed a place immediately, and the house in Windmere was already half-built. After a while, we realized that it was an older development with older children. Then we met someone who lived in the Estates; she brought us to the development and we realized that there were many more families with young children. It was a much better fit for our social lives as well as our daughter's. When property became available in the Estates, we grabbed it and built this house on Forest Lane. This development offered better elementary and middle schools. Also, a ton of kids lived here so our daughter had instant friends. Now those children are in college, and the neighborhood now consists of new families with young children ranging from babies/toddlers to high schoolers (good for babysitting). We love our house and hate to leave it behind as we return to our families and friends in New Jersey.
The most prominent feature of our interior is our finished basement. We always dreamed of a basement like this which boosts a full bar, surround-sound, and plenty of room for both your entertainment and your child's play area. Our home has an open floor plan and is very light and airy. Our gas fireplaces in both the den and the master bedroom keep us warm and cozy during the winter. Aside from our four bedrooms upstairs, we built a room downstairs that can either be used as an office, or in our case, a guest bedroom for our visitors. We use it for a bedroom because our mothers are elderly, and our friends love it because it is connected to a full bath and right outside the kitchen and den area. We built the house with an amazing amount of storage and closet space. We replaced our air conditioning units a couple of years ago and our 75-gallon water heater in 2019.
This house sits on half-acre of land which provides a fantastic, big backyard (can put in a pool if desired). We have an irrigation system that saves us from watering the grass and the decorative landscaping. We have an over-sized, two-car garage and an oversized driveway for extra parking or playing basketball.
Our children went to the Central Dauphin school system which rates higher than all the other surrounding areas. In addition to the excellent academics, Central Dauphin High School's athletic programs also excel; they won the state football championship and more recently, the girl's varsity softball team was crowned state champions in 2019. The community provides great support to the teams, and the stadiums/gymnasiums are always at full capacity.
We moved here from our home in New Jersey. We love the fact of how inexpensive it is to live here in Central PA. It is geographically located a few hours from Ocean City MD, New York City, Washington DC, Philadelphia, and other major cities. Living in the Linglestown area in Lower Paxton Township is very convenient to endless shopping, the turnpike, Hershey Park, and City Island (home of the Senators). Everyone has lived here most of their lives and the community is very close.
We enjoy the local restaurants in the area such as The Eagle, Italian Delight, and Longhorn Steak House. All of these restaurants offer excellent food and a great atmosphere. Overall there are plenty of options in the area that offer reasonable prices and a local crowd. We shop for groceries mainly at Giant, but also have the option of Karns and Weis. The food shopping is convenient and each store offers their own unique qualities. In addition to these stores, we live very close to COSTCO.
We have truly cherished our time in this home, and we are sure that you will too!
